Mark Tenney

Trumpet

Mark Tenney has played trumpet in LRWS for several years and has played for all three LR Winds conductors. He is a member of the Jubilation Jazz Band and also plays in the orchestras of Cabot First Baptist Church and Russellville First Baptist Church and has participated in mission trips to Brazil, Amman, Jordan and Bulgaria. He is on the staff of the Arkansas Ambassadors of Music and has toured Europe three times with this group as both conductor and trumpet player.

 

Tenney is retired after 33 years of band directing in Lonoke and Cabot. He is a past president of the Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association, is an elected member of Phi Beta Mu, and is a member of the American School Band Directors Association. He has served as national member at large for the A.S.B.D.A. executive board.
He is a Little Rock native and graduate of Mills University Studies High School. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s in Music Education degrees from Arkansas Tech University. His primary trumpet teachers were Ron Bryant and Richard Grady. Tenney is also a photographer and is the owner of River Valley Photography and Framing.
